Minigame Marathon
« on: February 22, 2011, 11:16:00 PM »
I decided I need to find a good way to de-stress from all this programming and I think one way is to start my SC minigames project. It's in the style of WarioWare in that it throws random minigames at you (each on a separate card) and you score based on whether you win. I will let people make minigames if they want, to add to mine, just a few guidelines:
 - It should fit in 1 card (I don't want too many global methods it gets messy)
 - it's a 640x480 window
 - they should generally be very short/small, like 15-30 seconds. (but if you want to go a bit longer that's OK)
 - they should have a clear win or lose condition at the end
 - SCBox2D will be included in the game file!
 - feel free to recycle things to use in more than 1 game, I plan on making a few games based on the same goal 'cause it's fun.

I might make some different game-modes and/or sort games into groups, depending what everyone comes up with.

Go ahead and make a 15-second game guys! I wanna try and fill up my 300 cards. ;D

Fragger
Rag Doll Cannon
Steer Wheel Game

I'd really like to see a motobike or shooting stuff mini game.
You guys want me to post an empty 640x480 SCBox2D project?

Well, Steer Wheels just glitched rather hilariously after level 3 and at the beginning of levels it kept saying "Games Reloaded... Dot Com" and I had no control but when I pressed space I was thrown at impossible speeds to the right, making a few levels incredibly easy. ;D
BY THE WAY....
Here's a template, fully armed with the latest physics engine methods. And I fixed that glitch from earlier. :P

yes, I noticed that glich too. If we remake this, lets try testing our game before releasing.

Noticed what glitch? It could be a different one, I thought I fixed the glitch... And anyways this is just a template for 640x480.

He's referencing the glitch in that flash game.
By the way, your bomb thing's fixed in the SC Physics thread.

Sounds good to me, I think I could easily make that car from Steer Wheels or a simple turret gun, both being fairly basic however since these are MINI games. XD
I think I'll make sure most of my other games are a bit simpler than Save The Ducks, I'm just making sure it's good since I'm gonna have a few versions on separate cards. Hell it took so long for a short game I might have to make a full separate game with levels. ;D If too many ducks get hit by anything you lose. Kind of a goofy spin-off of Videlecrtix' Duck Guardian. http://www.videlectrix.com/duckguard1.html
EDIT: thanks again Matt, here's the newest version, complete with fake ducks (they will be better with sprites and the polygon will be close enough to the shape). I cannot figure out why that wall is moving every time if the bombs goes off near it!!! Plus the lagging.... The horrible LAGGING. GAAA. (mostly my computer's fault not you Matt)  >:(

That's a good question, the wall shouldn't move...

The unreliability of this engine is disturbing.

I really like your ducks though, they look great.
