Laptop Batteries
« on: August 30, 2012, 07:48:30 AM »
I had a rather unfortunate accident with a glass of water and the MacBook a while back, and if you've seen this model you'll know that the keyboard is designed to not only let water in but to direct water to as many parts of the inner workings as possible. Luckily I turned it off and removed the battery immediately. I let it drain out for a while and waited about a week to try it again and it works great. It won't even turn on unless the battery is removed, however, so that's ruined and I'm running on the charger alone. Would you all recommend I buy a new battery at the apple store or just find a used one? I'm probably gonna get a new one.

I wouldn't buy one used.  A used battery has <100% capacity when the seller/owner gets it, and it degrades further as it sits in their inventory for however long they have it.  I also think it would be really easy for somebody to knowingly sell you a dead or almost-dead battery and then claim ignorance when you get it and it doesn't work.

The batteries in cartridge games (that allow you to save the game) die too, after a certain amount of time. Which is part of the reason why I A. want to sell EB sooner, rather than later and B. why I want a grey copy of TLoZ for NES.

Can you replace the batteries in NES games?
