Should I submit the HTML5 GM to the Open House?
« on: April 02, 2012, 06:40:47 PM »
I just got an e-mail from my college computer science department.
They are hosting an Open House where students display the computer science projects they have made.

You guys think I should put the HTML5 GameMaker on display?
The display would probably consist of a poster and a few computers. A projector if lucky.

sure, but you'll need a game to go with it, or at least a program. You should do something like this.

Yes I know I have bad spelling, it's what makes me such a good programmer!

I agree with Kurt, but you have the templates so that is something. There should be one that shows off layers I think.

You should do it.  Use the current version of Space Marine as a demo.  It's not finished, but it's enough to show your skills as a game programmer and as a scripting language programmer.  Who's going to be there?  I wonder if any software companies may send scouts...?  (I don't know if companies do that, but if they do, this is the right kind of event.)  At the very least you'd get to meet new people and network with other programmers your age.

There'll be professors and other college students wandering about. There'll also be some companies showing off some of their stuff.
This event is mainly for new students to see what K-State department of engineering and computer science has to offer.

I like that idea. Showing off Space Marine.

Use me as an example of how easy it is to use! I learned how to use the basic commands in 20-min. Feel free to show off my crappy little game.

This could be a way to get a few new users...or at least broaden the awareness of the GMG.
