I had a horrible experience three days ago when my ipod was washed in the waser
its fine now thanks to the rice method, but the most horrifying thing is when it first happened I thought
"oh no with out my iPod i'll be without my... nothing?"
My iPod is just full of useless junk! I only have a few apps that are helpful, and those are only helpful in select instances.
So I started a thread to have us share our useful apps
app1: Discover
good: useful flash drive/PDF reader, and it's free
this one I do use often. it's an app that turns your iPod into a wireless flashdrive(in wi-fi areas of course)
it lets you read, and distribute the files. also if you have a PDF downloaded into it you can read it.
bad: the developers left it to die!
since you can only use it as a flashdrive in wifi areas it'll backfire at you when your iPod is full of important stuff you can't send because you're not in wifi. happened to my at school, and my partner almost killed me
also you can't email the files, and the PDF reader sucks, you can't skip pages, and you can't exit back into the program you have to quit. The developers are also allegedly uncontactable.
app2: Touch mouse
good: makes your ipod function as a mouse/keypad
great GUI and you can control from a different room (so you can quit applications on pesky siblings)
bad: it doesn't show you the screen, and is as annoying as a track pad. a lot of keys (including esc) aren't on the keyboard since they use the default one, and ofcourse you can only use it in wi-fi, but thats unavoidable.
app: 3 eWifi
good: it works
find hidden wifi networks. I used this at scool, but it only seemed to work very close to the router (in the media center) (it's better than the built in one, just trust me)
bad: passwords
once you found the hidden networks they usually have a password you don't know
app 4:battery magic
good: displays battery capacity to %5 accuracy (in the free version) and shows the amount of time you have left of battery life, when executing tasks
helps you to manage the battery when away from computers
bad:
most of the useful features are in the paid version ($1)
and it always guesses low since it can't sense when you last did a lithium charge cycle
app5: VNC
good: just like touch mouse, but shows the computer screen
bad: very hard to set up
all of these are free
submit your own useful apps. you don't have to write as much as I did. I'd just like to get more out of my iPod.
