Fire-emblem

Ever thought of making a strategy game like fire-emblem? It's not my game of choice, but it'd be a neat project for somebody.

Nope as in "That's a stupid idea." or nope as in "No, I've never thought about that."?

Hehe.

Depsite the many lulz here. I have.

I tracked down a very old forum post on Silver Networks, some built a proto-type Ai for it. But Alas, the source was lost in time.

Then I had an idea for a Strategy game like the flash, "Autumn War", but then I got distracted by something shiny.

Making an advanced AI would probably be fun.

There's a lot in fire emblem that would be hard to make. The enemies moving and making decisions, the characters that you unlock/lose, the story that changes if you make a wrong move and kill off a player. I don't think it's quite GMG skill-level, but it'd be awesome if you prove me wrong. I think only 3 games from the series made it to North America, but it's a fun game.

I tried the DS version once, it's pretty cool. Of course I keep wondering if I'm going to do well enough if I lose too many units, it would suck to barely win one battle and lose the game on the next. :/ But now my DS is broken. ::)

This does give me an idea for a style of game we could try to mimic though... Remember Worms? ;) http://www.nitrome.com/games/mutiny/

Ah yes. Worms.

There's tutorials online that tell you how to get every character. I always started a level over if a person died.
Oh yeah, my mistake, there are 5 American fire-emblem games. One for the GameCube and one for Wii.

I much prefer Advance Wars over Fire Emblem. When a guy dies in fire emblem is too big a deal for my tastes. I prefer to send waves and waves of my own my to their destruction.
