Dwarf Fortress

I just thought I'd try out this game since it's been mentioned many times when comparing things to Minecraft. It's actually pretty fun, so if you've got some time to kill try it out. I like how open it is.

I have tried that game since it is (allegedly) quite immersive and complex.  However, the byzantine interface combined with the daunting open-endedness made me give up pretty quickly.  I should take a week off and do nothing but try to learn this game, since the concept appeals to me.

I've noticed that this tutorial actually helps a lot since it's like a walkthrough. It didn't take me too long to get started.
What I personally recommend to start out is lining up a lot of tasks at once so you can let them work in the background and do whatever else.
But yes, once it gets going you need a good chunk of time. I'm gonna wait until school's out to do this too.

I googled "Dwarf Fortress Tutorial" and got a pretty good one that taught the basics.

Protip: Download a graphics set. "Its like I'm building my own final fantasy town"

I've gotten to the point where my "Expedition leader" becomes a "Town Mayor" and starts demanding all this expensive stuff. Then I ran out of booze, then everyone revolted. Then everyone died. It was fun while it lasted though!
This Cannot be, NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Dang, adventure mode is even more detailed than I thought. LOL at left lower arm.
I'm just casually following that newbie tutorial, nothing real involved yet.
Also, remember: It's fun to lose! :D

This game is too complex. I'm too lazy to read a manual to figure out how to play a game.

It would be difficult to find a more nerdy game. ;D
