:D Haha, you drew Luigi and Mario super buff...
Your 9 year old self was a much better artist than me now. You've improved so much!
Epic ninja turtle.

It's amazing how well you've honed your drawing skills Eqwanox.  My drawings looked like that when I was 9, but they didn't get better!  Lengths and distances and proportions are difficult for me to estimate, and forget about coloring and shading.

I got this cool book, it's called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, it's about drawing what you see and goes over perspective, proportions on the head and portraits. I really like the way it explains that drawing isn't just a natural talent and it CAN be taught, if you take the time. It gets you to think about it in a different way...
Oh and I may have to post some of my old VS new stuff I saved quite a few drawings.

There's no shame in not being able to spell very well using a silly language like English. I'm convinced that it's among the most absurd written languages in the world! We hardly ever stick to any grammatical rules, so you might as well spell things the way they sound. That's how we ended up with half of the spellings we have nowadays anyway. ::)

Oh, loving the art btw! :D

I'm learning Japanese and the writing system requires you to spell things phonetically. And the grammar makes perfect sense!
IN ENGLISH you say "That is a pencil".
To make a question, switch words around: "Is that a pencil?". I don't really know why.

IN JAPANESE, to make such a sentence a question, just add "Ka".
That is a pencil:
"kore wa enpitsu desu".
Is that a pencil?
"kore wa enpitsu desu ka".

Yeah, Japanese is well cool. I learnt the basics awhile back and found it very interesting. :)

Sounds to me like "ka" is the english equivalent of ", right?".

That is a pencil.
That is a pencil, right?

Aww, blast from the past! Loving the sketches! I tried to preserve all my old artwork, but some of it's gone missing over the years. Still got loads of textbooks with doodles in them though. :)

You had some serious stuff working through your fingers even at that age Eq; your grasp of depth and perspective is incredible and you used the old "skipping the contact frame" technique to increase the impact of gun shots and punches. Who taught you art at that age?

What is it you're referring to with that? You got me curious. Skipping the contact frame? I think I could guess but I'd like to know more...
You mean the still frames of just after the bullet was fired?

Oh and I fully agree, that already-graded old math assignments make EXCELLENT drawing paper. Especially when you've got into that mindset of staring at a blank piece of paper until it seems... intimidating (Art Block it's called).

PS: Google brought up something entirely different and unrelated but still very interesting. ::) This post explains some basic ideas behind collision detection and why it's so strange sometimes.
