Haha. I'm not sure that was what Swamp was aiming for in starting a real/professional company just yet.
I think that we should see who all would like to band together to make a mini company. No projects yet, just getting people together, finding the point of the company, having a name, and either getting a site or making the gmg our home base.
After that we can see about projects, but we should do one thing at a time so it doesn't die.

Here is a brief tester mock-up of the site:

LOL I LOVE IT
Future rich guy xDDD
LOL motivational extremist!
Man this is pure sig gold.
Robotocs Club
I'll get brainstorming some names. And I think the list thing will work out - I'll be off tomorrow due to Robotocs Club (dont dis, its awesome) Tetraeon work (a ton of business stuff to do), and the Little Big Planet beta, but hopefully wednesday will have a spot open - its a busy week
but if we wanted to, we could make a bio page, or about us, I have some good ideas.
Taken. They've made some great games. Tribal Trouble and Marble Blast are awesome. :)

btw you should go register a forum, use proboards.com or conforums.com there both free and i can code them and make them look pretty.
Heres what we should do:
1. Decide everyone's positions (programmers, artists, ect.)
2. decide what type of game to make
3. finish the website
4. make a forum
5. start the project
EDIT - also, we should get a sense of what experience everyone has... like I don't even have game maker, and I bet some of you game maker people have never used silver creator.
Good idea- maybe put our real names out there, a little bio page for each of the people in the company, that would be cool.
Like First Name "Alias" Last Name/Initial.
Yeah, we can do something like:
Name-
Location-
Position-
Skills-
Interests-
Since we are spilt between SC and GM, maybe we should use Xcode or TNTbasic?
I kind of hate TNT... raise your hand if you have any xcode game programming experience.
theres a huge different between some simple programs and a game
boring game graphics.!I would hope that the graphics in our games won't be boring ...
Yeah. A simple game should be set first. Perhaps we should make this game:http://www.holotronix.com/samlloyd15.php#I won 4x4 in 139 moves. Is that good or bad?
Might a humble forum rogue voice his thoughts? That is the problem with programming, it is called "Scope Creep"
I suggest that if you truly are gonna attempt a group project, (and by that I mean attempt to finish one, not just start one) that you start with an arcader. A simple RPG would be cool, but every time an RPG is attempted it's never kept simple. Pretty much any old idea can be turned into an arcader, so once you have someone to invent one, another person to draw a few graphics and another person to compose music, you should easily be able to make a game within a month. With the team assembled here there should be no problems.
Advice from a guy who's finished a few games. ;)
That "Scope Creep" thing is never really a problem for me... generally when I start a project I make the idea really awesome and undoable, and then cut things out as I go.I am the exact opposite.
Even if it seems huge, just start making it... hopefully you'll begin to see things that are unnecessary and could be cut out.I am actually working on GF right now.
Come on guys, post what position you want in the company! Don't let this die!
Too late. Already started. ;)
Great. :DI don't like the gray writing with the gray background it hurts my eyes.
Now time to get on the site. Hey Alias, do you have a site design? I can stick it up on iWeb. Than I can get a forums up and running.
How does this kind of forum look:

I will try, if I can't, what time's better than the present to learn CSS or use html?I will format a HTML page for you with css if you want.

Two new things guys:
(1) Wouldn't this be a great chat for Eclipse Studios? http://explurse.3d-portal.com/chat/
It reminds of of an "Eclipse".
(2) I finished most of a really cool vb.net game in programming class in my free time. I will post it a little later. Also I got my vb.net up on my pc. I can now program stuff in vb.net. So...
-Gandolf
Again, Alias. That's on his side.
As Silverwind: You've been MEGed. (Magically Eye Gouged)
As an observer: I liked Gan's idea of actually doing something. Making the game.
(Sshhh! Don't tell Swamp or Warhapster.)Huh? Did I hear my name?
Huh? Did I hear my name?Nah, he said Warhapster. (thank goodness for mispronunciation, saves the lives of espionage workers on a daily basses)
Haha. ;D
I'm still making it in secret. (Sshhh! Don't tell Swamp or Warhapster.) Though I have something else up my pocket protector that's taking up most of my time which should be done in 30 min to an hour...

Possible mascots:
(1) Dog named "Sabastian" - Tan fur, Maltipoo/Shitzu
(2) Dog named "Skittles" - Brown Dorky
(3) Dog named "Princess (Cubby Bear)" - Black Pomeranian
(4) Cat named "Gidget" - Huge and fat
(5) Cat named "Rascal" - White fluffy fur, with blue eyes
(6) Ferret named "Ferrita/Tinkerbell/Stinky Tinky" - Brown ferret with black mask, adult female=
good god. NO MASCOT.
Ya that would be awesome.
Oh dear sweet lord. Those are some of the most outlandish names I have ever heard. If we are to have a mascot, It will be a robotic, half panda, half eagle, with the jaws of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. And it will glow in the dark.
I think I'll name it Robopaglex.
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/104724/estemp.zip
try that out it isn't perfect but it is the best I can do for a while.

I should try to model that :P

Wow... gandolf, you really need to comment your code.
You've got around eighty variables and I have no idea what some of them are used for.
We still have to stick in a modified version of Silver's movement engine so the tiles move around. :PSilver's movement engine? You mean V6? (or V7? In which case you've been snooping about my Hard Drive)
Yup, we hacked into your computer and stole all your source code.Meh, I stole it from Peter Jackson, so I guess that's fair.
Finally, GM is a great program, but does anyone know how to code in another language that allows for a graphical 2d engine, similar to that of "World Of Goo"?I code in vb.net. Can do graphics and network programming. I can also make a 2D engine, but I will need 2 things. (1) The graphics and (2) The physics formulas. For gravity, rotation, bouncyness, buoyancy, kinetic energy, potential energy, ect...
Mike (PS I will look into the BASIC variants)
Okay, I know Mist, Silver, Gan, Al, Harry, and Mike.
I don't know Warhampster, TD, Leodrax, or Teuri.

*shivers* Oh dear me no... nobody refers to me as John, it's Johnny but I spell it without the H. Not that I spell it often mind you, Silverwind is used for everything cyber. And as for Jonathan, well, only my bowling ball spells it thataways.
I'm thinking maybe some iPod Touch/iPhone apps. And a few Mac Dashboard Freeware/Shareware apps, moving on to full Mac/PC Shareware programs later.I hate to sound like Eq, but aren't you starting a little to big? I mean, even a simple game like Simon would be really hard to program, considering that none of us (as far as I know) have ever made a iPhone game before.
Look i think Eclipse is more of a title under which any of us can release games under. so we dont actually have to MAKE a group project RIGHT NOW, we can just release our games under the name of eclipse.. yeh?Now that sounds like a good idea.
Not bad! A bit blurry, I made a remake of mine:I really like that.

Ok
Just a quick screenie of what I have so far on the mockup

EDIT: The link (LOL) http://screencast.com/t/kVSBuu8D
And btw why dont we use Ghosts hosting here?! ???
Swamp,
Can you get a free hosting account with PHP?
PM me the info and I will start making the site
Mist
lol! Thank goodness I decided to read through the whole topic. ;D Where dost thou getest thy hilarity from Swamp?
Johnny it is! Awesome name! I can see it now...
"The Chronicles of Johnny: End Of Eternity"
That would make quite a movie.
See what I did there? Worked my way back. The more you plan the better you are ;DUnless all you do is plan
nobody else is publicly working on an RPG.*ahem*
I might not be able to make it tonightIt's ok, I don't think any of us will die from anxiety... yet. (Anyway, take your time, you make wicked sites ;))
got some French project that is due tomorrowI remember when I was in 9th... Good times... I made french onion pie for my french projects. It really helps the grade, french people love food, bring food. Automatic A+.

Je adore francais classe. One of the things I love most about it is writing french stories... Il y a une vanche s'appelle Cow. Il y a garcon s'appelle Guy. Guy mange cow. La fin.
Usually we write paragraphs though, it's a lot of fun.
