SilverCreator Plaza is now available at it's NEW location:

http://www.silvercreator.net/plaza/

It may take up to 24 hours for DNS information to propagate. So you may not be able to access the site for up to 24 hours.

Uh, the forum account which I started the other day has mysteriously disappeared. It says the posts I made were posted by a guest.

It may have happened while I was clearing out the spam accounts.

Registering with your old username gives you back your posts.

Redd, I have a Python script that clears out all accounts with 0 posts, if you want it.

It would be a good way to sort things out, but there are some real people who register and don't post for a while, I'm afraid that would clear those out as well.

Well what's the point of registering if your not going to post?

Some of them are just their to take up your main hard-drive's space and slow down your site, or they could just be poorly programmed and be unable to post.

What do you think the registration code stops?

Most forums let you create an account and then the forum automatically sends you an email that you have to respond to in order to be able to begin posting. The forum spam bots make accounts, but they can't post because they aren't able to finish the signup requirements of responding to the email. So they just keep making accounts and never make a post.

If the forum is set to allow posting without needing an email response then the spam bots are able to make posts. When I made a change last year I accidentally disabled the email requirement and the spam posts flooded the forum. I immediately turned that back on.

These days almost every forum has some sort of authentication process, so I don't know why anyone bothers to use a forum spambot anyway since they never actually make any posts anywhere.

so why not have it make the account AFTER people respond through email
