Post by: Al Staffieri on March 11, 2011, 05:45:49 PM
UPDATE 8/10/11

Release update to v3.9.95 is now available at http://macgamemaker.com

---------------------------------

Please try this beta version. I need some people with OS X 10.6 to try using pictures, movies, sounds in a folder to make sure the "Can't access temporary file" error has been fixed. This is a beta version and will only be available for 10 days.

Also try compiling it and make sure the compiled game works. If you have other OS X versions, I also need to make sure it still works on OS X 10.5 and below. Thanks.

Latest Improvements:
v3.9.95 b1
-FIX: Clicking on Al's Home Page in the Internet menu was not correctly linking to the page.
-FIX: In OS X 10.6 after accessing external files, a "Can't access temporary file" error would occur causing GameMaker to not be able to save the project.
-FIX: When importing graphics files, all files are now shown as available for importing.
-MOD: SPRITEPATH command was missing from the help text.
-NEW: Added SPRITECOLLIDE syntax to test if sprite is touching a specified area or coordinate.

When I tried it on a Mac 10.3.9, after I pressed New Project, it said "Can't create a temporary file.  Disk may be full or locked."  Neither of those statements are true though.

That's an old beta. This thread is from March.

I can't tell if the two posts above yours are spam or real...

First one of the two is definitely spam.  I think the bots are getting smarter; the text of the post appears to be referring to windows GameMaker.   ::)

When I open it, it say that the beta has expired.  I'm running it on a 10.6.8.

Also, the application icon is the icon when you compile a game.  It has no icon.

Ghad! Now I've been had by those pesky grave diggers! This calls for an imminent, immediate, and even instant ban.

Oops. Sorry. I never uploaded the finished update. I'll send it out as soon as I can.

Also: I deleted the spammer post.

Not a spam bot.

He doesn't even have a link to a site.

According to my spam alert, this has a 75% chance of being spam. If I had the power, I'd raise the giant ban hammer and obliterate this cyber scum's face.

Nice catch Kurt.

Conflicting reports. can't decide. must... talk in third person grah!!!

can't we IP ban whoever is doing this? or is it multiple people?

Probably the same bot machine, or a few bot machines that make many accounts.
Mmm. We're really destroying Al's thread here.

I wish I knew how to ban, IP ban, and chop posts into new threads... I think that'd require a forum upgrade though.

Thank you for sharing something new to learn.
It's still uncertain if he's spam or not. Post doesn't make much sense but lacks the spammish links and pictures of pretty women.

perhaps thats the trick!
Generic statements like that seem to go in most places like
"i don't know"
"I love it here"
"lol"
It'd be impossible to. deferentiate from spam or new user I've said all of those and so could a spam bot. Probably shouldn't have given out those ideas, but I think he was close to that answer anyways.
