Title: Spiral Knights
Post by: Connors on January 23, 2012, 07:16:01 AM
I just finally tried this game out last night, and it is fantastic so far. Forget Runescape!
The game plays more like Zelda, think of in Phantom Hourglass how it's a top down view. You move with the arrows and attack the direction of the mouse. The graphics are good and the atmosphere it creates is just amazing.
I immediately met another player who was a first timer and we were both glad to find someone who uses the chat enough. I can tell I found a good friend to go exploring with, I got lucky there. And I already joined a guild clan who's accepting low level players since they're new and need members.

My friend and I have the same colors - green with red armor on. Total coincidence. :P

I'll do a dungeon or two with you. Love that game. It is, however, an online RPG, meaning they have ways of trying to get you to pay. The limited energy thing is bad. Also, the auction system of players buying stuff is great, because you can find good deals if you have the time, but bad because it allows the players to determine the price of things.

My example of this is http://www.puppetguardian.com. I played this game while it was in beta, and the prices of things were reasonable. But soon, people started buying in game money, and it threw the entire market off. Soon everything was too expensive. Inflation is bad enough in real life, but in a video game...

Still a fairly fun, free game. (Most people only play it for the hat in TF2 though.)

@Gan: Yes, free and Mac. But also downloaded with Steam.

And I'll try and join you next time we're both online, I think Steam will let you know what friends are doing in game.

I believe it tells you what game they're playing, and in TF2 you can see what server they're on.
