I've got a pretty open-ended final English project, basically to make any multimedia "thing" that relates to something we've read... I want to make a game of course, dunno how that will work out. I have a passion for art games :)

I'm doing the same kind of thing. It's our "creative" project of the year. And I know what you mean, it's tricky to make a quick game. But it can be done! Have you all seen the Ludum Dare 24 hour game competition? Great stuff.

I had some fun ideas. It's not too hard, I'd just program in random "events" like other boats, islands, things from the book etc.
@WarHampster: Y'know I like that, a quick art game on some book could work...
EDIT:

This is it guys. This has to be my project.
...I love my Huck sprite!
EDIT 2: Changed sprites just a bit, now Jim is taller.
I should post this game here if/when it's done.

Your art is continuously awesome! I'd enjoy an artful game from you. Especially book related. Love books.

Everytime I get an english project like that, I'm content to Troll the teacher.

Like here is my "My Children! My Africa!" project: (Note: The book is about education breaking the cycle of internalized racism in South Africa)

This Cannot be, NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Swamps in College, we're friends on FB ;)

Silver an official "retiree". Though I think he mean's he just won't be making any more games, he still should be around/

God knows about Eq, he likes to disappear for weeks at a time.

Silverwind may be retired, but at least he left us with an easy way to make RPGs. If GameMaker got popular, I swear, there'd be a million quest of magic clones popping up every day. With all the programming (grid nav) already done, plus the art (tileset + entity sprites) you'd have to put no effort into making a crappy quest of magic clone. Even I've made several unfinished ones. And none of them would be as good as the real one, cuz that game ruled.

i've been so busy with so many things. Work, school, fixing my house (just got it paid off, so now I'm doing some things I've been wanting to do to it), working out every day, and I have some work to do at my parents house.

OS X 10.7 is coming in a month, so I REALLY need to get working on GameMaker.

School just ended!! I have such a busy summer... lots of excitement. Among other things I'm teaching a game development class using SilverCreator :)
Expect more information about my Android framework and voxel engine soon!

Awesome! :D

@WarHampster
Haha sweet! That sounds so exciting.

I'm gonna have more time as well. Gonna drop(or test out) of my summer college programming class. Turns out I know just about everything and need a more advanced class. So I'm thinking I'll get back to my Super Secret Chocolate-covered Project and making neat random 3D things.
